A historic achievement as she becomes the only woman in Olympics & Paralympics to win a gold !

India’s Avani Lekhara has won the country’s first gold medal at Tokyo Paralympics.
She made the history by becoming the first ever women to win the gold at the Paralympics.
Lekhara shot a total score of 249.6 in the final, equalling the world record set by Ukraine’s Iryna Shchetnik in December 2018.

The 19 years old Avani from Jaipur, who sustained spinal cord injuries in a car accident in 2012, and dependent on wheel chair qualified and wins the first gold medal for the country India in women’s 10m Rifle Standing SH1 final.

Lekhera qualified for the final finishing 7th in the qualification round with a total score of 621.7. She then shot superbly to leapfrog to the top in final

Inspite of depending on wheel chair she also became the first shooter to win medal at the Paralympics Games.
