SIKKIM WILL ORGANISE IT’S 2nd EDITION OF GLOBAL FILM FESTIVAL.

Sikkim will organise it’s 2nd edition of global film festival to promote sikkim as a film shooting destination and a potential film tourism hub a location catalogue title “100 film shooting destination in Sikkim”, which was recently launched by Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang.

Minister for Information and Public Relations Department, Shri. Lok Nath Sharma along with Advisor, IPR Department, Shri Birendra Tamling and Chairperson Sikkim Film Promotion Board, Ms. Pooja Sharma convened a National level press conference to brief the media about the upcoming Second edition of Sikkim Global Film Festival to be held in Sikkim. The press conference was held at Old Sikkim House, New Delhi, on 28th of September.

To encourage the filmmakers The state government also announced a subsidy of Rs 20 lakhs to local filmmaker and a subsidy of Rs 1 crore to national film makers of certain criteria is fulfilled that is 75% of the shoot should be done in Sikkim and 50% of cast and crew should be locals.

Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma informed that the Second edition of Sikkim Global Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 10th December 2021 to 14th December, 2021.
He said that Sikkim is making its strong presence as a sought after destination for film makers from India and abroad. He said that the upcoming film festival will offer a wide ambit of activities and engagement for film makers.
The Chairperson Ms. Pooja Sharma informed that the State Government has launched Sikkim Film Policy last year to ease the process of filmmaking.
Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang has always given importance to the promotion of Sikkim as a film shooting destination and a potential film tourism hub. He has laid great emphasis on providing ample opportunities to the film makers and artists of the State as well as the country said Ms.pooja Sharma

She stated that this five day event will have inauguration ceremony, felicitation programme, movie screening, producers and investors meet, fashion show and cultural exhibition, masterclass with national and regional level film technical experts, evening cultural programmes, art performances and recce at proposed Eco- Heritage Film Village site at Yangang, South Sikkim and Tsogmo Lake. The film festival will also have International and Nation filmmakers participating in it.
She said that the events will be held and the entries are open for:

 I.         Feature Film Screening

II. Tribal and Regional Film competition

III. Short Film Competition

IV. 1 Minute video competition – theme: Global peace

V. 5 Minute video competition- battling the Pandemic

She urged the newly filmmakers to take part in competition and get their film recognized and accelerate their career as film makers.
The rules for the competitive movie is that all films must carry English subtitles, films not certified by CBFC can also be submitted, films made in past 3 years and short film should not exceed 30 minutes.

She also invited the film makers from India and abroad to participate in this film festival.
