Couple on bike stopped by 4 men, woman raped in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur.

A woman, who was travelling on a bike with her husband, was raped by four men and the two were thrashed by the accused in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur area on Wednesday night.

A couple travelling on a bike was allegedly obstructed, thrashed and the woman was sexually assaulted by four men on Wednesday night in Sattenapalli area of Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district.

According to police, the couple was returning to their hometown after attending a function in Guntur when the four accused attacked them around 9 pm and allegedly raped her and looted the couple by threatening them using weapons.

Around 1.30 am, the couple reached the Sattenapalli police station to lodge a complaint. However, it is alleged that police initially did not accept the complaint and urged them to file a complaint with the Medikonduru police station saying the incident took place under its jurisdiction.

DSP Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy of Sattenpalli police station, however, denied the allegation and said that the case was booked by Medikonduru and an intensified investigation has been launched to nab the accused.

Meanwhile, TDP MLC Nara Lokesh, who was scheduled to visit Guntur, condemned the latest incident and also criticised the police for allegedly not taking proper action and sending the victim away over the jurisdiction issue.
