District Collector (South) visited Yangang Sub Division to assess damages causes by ensuing monsoon season

District Collector (South) Mr. M Bharani Kumar visited Yangang Sub Division to assess damages causes by ensuing monsoon season and also to address issues pertaining to public inconvenience and grievances. He was accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate(Yangang), Block Development Officer(Yangang), District Project Officer (Disaster Management, South), Divisional Engineer (Tourism), Asst Engineer (Roads and Bridges), Asst Engineer (Building and Housing), Junior Engineers and Panchayats. The inspection took place at the following locations and the issues addressed are as under:
a) Dojak Slide: This slide is a persistent one and usually the road is always blocked during monsoon. The study of the slide has already been done by Mines and Geology Department but the stability report along with mitigation measures is still awaited. b) Pathing: PMGSY road and Gauguney SlideHere it was reported by SDM Yangang that public face inconvenience during monsoon in supply vegetables and dairy due to persistent road blockage. Further, a suggestion to hand over the road to SPWD Roads was also contemplated. There was a requirement of thorough study to ascertain cause of the damage and propose mitigation measures for the same. The continuation of the slide could be seen at Thukshey Dunga along Satam – Yangang road.
