42 CHILDREN FROM ASSAM RESCUED IN SIKKIM KINGPIN HELD.
In a major breakthrough, Assam police carried out a search operation in Sikkim and rescued 42 children from trafficking and made two arrest which are in custody of Chirang Police.”The Children between 9-18 years were taken to Sikkim on the pretext of providing education but instead engaged in domestic work. The children primarily belong to Adivasi,Bengali,Koch-Rajbongshi and Boro Communities and hail from four villages near the India-Bhutan border in Chirang District,”Sharma said.”Sikkim police were also involved in this operation and was a big help on rescuing those children,” The Chief Minister Said.The police team led by Chirang SP Gaurav Upadhyay reached Kokrajhar Last night along with the rescued Children.Meanwhile, the children will be brought to Assam Administrative Staff College and will interact with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
