India has has now right to host the 2023 International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in Mumbai. 75 IOC members voted in favour of Mumbai’s bid to host the IOC session in 2023. India will host the IOC meeting for the first time in 40 years, for the first time since 1983.
According to IOC member Nita Ambani, this victory is a significant step forward for India’s Olympic aspirations and heralds the beginning of a new era for Indian sport.
“Sport has always been a source of hope and inspiration for millions of people all over the world.” We are one of the world’s youngest countries today, and I am excited for India’s youth to embrace and experience firsthand the magic of the Olympics.
